Day 98

I typically don't struggle with what to write here. Normally, I just sit down and the words just kinda pour onto the screen each night. Tonight...hmmm, it's just not happening. Today was pretty much a dud for excitement. I was plenty busy today, kept to myself pretty heavily, and prepared for upcoming travel. I'll be briefing many engineers very soon in the northern part of the country and taking a team with me. Everyone's presentations had to be pulled together, reviewed by my boss, and travel solidified. I've got the lead on this trip so I'm trying not to forget anything. I hope this trip is the last one while I'm here. While I don't mind leaving the comforts of this base, living out of a backpack gets old pretty quick. Heck, just finding an internet connection and posting on this blog becomes a challenge.

One care package did arrive today and was a total surprise...homemade beef jerky from my dad. Ironically, just a day or so ago, I was chatting with my mom and told her that my dad's homemade jerky is really all I wanted. She didn't let on at all that it was about to arrive. It was a GREAT surprise...and one package is gone already. Thanks, Dad!!!

Getting back to my room a little earlier tonight, I spent a lot of time behind the computer "watching" many of my friends running the most popular 50K trail race back home. No doubt about it...I'm missing my trails and friends A LOT today. It looks like they had the typical hot/humid/dry day on the trails. With that said, it's a wrap. Another Saturday done...and "lonely Sunday" looms. I'm going to go in early tomorrow instead of later...I seemed to like that a lot more last week when I did it instead of heading in at noon.

Goodnight, everyone.
