Day 180
6 months down. Way less to go. I will keep it very, very short for you today. It was a very non-glamorous day and only a few highlights stick out. To start out...I wake up to the passing of Steve Jobs...co-founder of our beloved Apple. In true Apple fashion, I hit the road for 6 miles at sunrise along with my iPhone playing Miles Davis from last night's iTunes download. Steve would be proud. Later on today, I got my flu shot. No biggie. We also had a steady rain...big news over here. I haven't seen that since combat training in late April. Lastly, I received my travel reservations almost all the way back to Kansas! Yep...I now know the date and time I will leave this part of the world and every layover and connecting flight to get me to my processing station where this all started. The only flight I don't know is the final trip HOME...won't know that until less than 48 hours until I make that trip. I added up the flight times...about 24 hours of total flight. Two words: jet lag! No problem, though...bring it! Anyway, the reservations are a bit early since my relief is still at combat training but getting those reservations...well, I've been waiting for those for a very, very long time. Of course, I shared them with Dorothy which shot a dose of reality into returning home. Very good news. Other than that, folks, not much else to say on this landmark day at 180. I expect a very quiet 4-5 days ahead as it's a 3-day weekend again back home with Columbus Day. That's 4-5 days closer to home.
