It's hard to believe I'm 14 days away from Day 180...6 months since I last hugged my girls. I dare not dwell on that because it's actually very upsetting that I've missed so much. So I shall not. I'll see them much sooner than another 180 days. That brings forth much happier thoughts and so that's what I'll look towards.
Today was very busy all morning long...non-stop, actually then the brakes got applied for the afternoon until the east coast showed up to work. Our Marine boss flew out this morning and immediately, a deep sigh of relief could almost be heard in the office. We all like him but you know how it is when your boss is in town and normally isn't. Anyway, he flew back to his perch and we carried on. While it was slow, I did get caught up on my Apple news which is plentiful these days. A new iPhone is going to be announced on October 4th, a new operating system for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch will be released the next week and also the new iCloud will be going live. As a relatively new member of the Apple "cult" and since I studied business and marketing in my undergrad and graduate degrees, I love to watch how they do business and how dang strategic and successful they are. It really is pure brilliance. Anyway, once the east coast showed up, I got plenty busy and got heavily involved in a problem just as I was about to leave for the night. Of the over 200 generators I am bringing into the country, one went to the wrong location which is not good. After a call Stateside, a call to Dubai, and a call out to the customer who is a very small unit on a Polish outpost, I hope I put things into motion. I'll find out when I open my e-mail tomorrow morning if that generator is moving to the location it should. The mess-up isn't my fault, though. The customer simply messed up the delivery location when I took the order a few months ago.
After a gyro for dinner, I did some major cleaning in my room. I've become a neat-freak in my room and am trying to keep it all tidy and ready to pack my gear when it's time. The day I eventually move out, my relief will move in that night so my room will need to be squared away. On my hands and knees, I cleaned the whole floor with baby wipes and in the end, I've got myself a clean room. Of course, a shower quickly followed and here I am....closing out Day 166! I love Fridays...the end of the week Stateside and 2 days from Sunday where I do what I want for one day...working a few hours, of course. PLUS, this Saturday marks the last full calendar week of September! Yep! October is right around the corner!! Oh my, October...I have been waiting for you! As for my relief...not so much. He'll be getting back on the "Road" this Saturday where he'll head to combat training just as I did. One step closer... And with that, I bid you a good night.
Goodnight, everyone.
