Day 130

Early, early to rise this morning as I did Skype in to my pastor's house as the men gathered for their weekly Bible study. It was great to spend about an hour with the men from my church even though it was 7,000 miles away. Technology strikes again! Shortly thereafter, I dialed into a call with other Navy Supply Corps officers and then hooked up on Skype with Tin Man and Scarecrow before they headed to bed...custom-Converse in hand, of course!

There really isn't much to write about today...just a few things. It was easily the busiest day in the office that I've had since I arrived here. It was non-stop all day long from beginning to end. Recall the point paper I wrote about a real "problem child" that I am involved in? I wrote it twice and it made itself way up the chain of command back in the States. After weeks of my superiors going to bat for what I suggested, there was finally new ground broken. From what I can gather, a whole new team is being assembled to comply with my/our suggestions. Now we wait again to see what comes from it. I stopped the direct communication over the past week or two and let those with the pay grade do the "barking up the tree." Each step, I was consulted on my opinion/suggestion then they pushed that upward...often just copying my exact input into their words.

After 11 straight hours, I called it a night and got out of there. I did exchange a few e-mails with my relief, too. We're starting to talk about the job he'll have here and I'm trying to push as much advice to him both about the job, his living environment, stuff to bring, stuff NOT to bring, etc. Once I got back to my side of the base, I had my wish granted as the chow hall was finally serving their homemade pizza. It's actually very good and the only good pizza I've had anywhere on this base. Back in my room....just chillaxing, watching some TV, and sipping another mug of hot, full leaf, Passion tea....oh so good. With that, I'd say Day 130 is a wrap.

Goodnight, everyone.
